The Legend of NOVICHOC
The legendary creation born from secret experiments during the crazy hazy days of the Soviet Union, was once a closely guarded secret. Now, this extraordinary chocolate is yours to enjoy!

In the darkest days of the “Cold War”, a top-secret lab within Moscow’s iconic Kremlin complex buzzed with activity. This was the birthplace of the most ambitious project in communist confectionary history. The Soviet Union, determined to outdo the “decadent West” in every possible way, had set its sights on creating the ultimate chocolate bar – with a “twist”.
Dr. Ivan Chocochenko, a brilliant but eccentric scientist, believed that the key to proving Soviet superiority lay not just in weapons or space travel, but in selling the world his unique chocolate. Eventually obtaining government backing, he assembled a team of the finest chocolatiers and chemists in the land to develop a recipe that would make Western chocolates seem more like mere cocoa-flavoured cardboard.

A unique blend of cocoa and other ingredients resulted in a chocolate bar with unparalleled taste, texture and uplifting after-effects. They eventually settled on the name NOVICH☣️C. The recipe was a closely guarded secret, known only to a handful of scientists and top government officials, who were already making plans for their special product.

NOVICHOC With A 'Twist'
However, NOVICH☣️C was not just to be a delicious treat; the Soviet government had a more sinister plan in mind. They intended to use it as a tool of espionage, whereby each bar was infused with a micro-dose of a truth serum, designed to make anyone who ate it spill their secrets without realising. The architect of this plan was Dr. Viktor Volkov, a brilliant but morally ambiguous scientist with a dark and controversial background.
He would eventually take his experiments to extreme levels by trying to use the genuinely delicious chocolate as a means to secretly infuse and administer even more dangerous biochemical potions – often with tragic consequences.

Recognising his potential, the Soviet government sidelined Dr. Chocochenko and recruited Volkov and the KGB (intelligence agency) to develop a plan to get into the minds of their own population, before exporting it to the West.
After successfully testing it on some of their own citizens they wanted to quickly flood their own as well as Western markets, turning unsuspecting consumers into unwitting Soviet informants.

Defection of the Cold War Confection
Dr. Chocochenko was shocked when he heard about how his chocolate was to be used – this was not his intention at all and decided to act fast in order to ensure this didn’t come to pass. Potentially putting himself in great danger, he was able to secretly alter the formula so that the truth serum wouldn’t work. He’d also made contact with British spy Warren Peace via diplomats in Moscow, in order to arrange an escape to Britain. The entire Soviet bloc was beginning to crumble, and he wanted to give his creation the best possible chance of enduring.
Whilst NOVICH☣️C quickly became popular in the communist bloc, in true communist Russian style, the huge international marketing campaign that was to be aimed at the West never materialised and production soon ground to a halt – all due to corruption and lack of funds.
A Sweet Legacy
After arriving in Britain Dr. Chocochenko was hailed for alerting the world to the truth serum plan, as well as confirming suspicions about various other elaborate acts of poisoning. However, this was not made public at the time and his recipe had to remain a secret. He was able to change his identity and worked as a consultant for many confectionary companies, helping them improve their own products and recipes. Dr. Chocochenko eventually retired to a quiet cottage in the English countryside, where he continued to tinker with recipes in his home kitchen until his peaceful expiration.
Only now, following the declassification of previously secret government files on the case (as well as the recipe itself), can NOVICH☣️C be introduced to you and the wider world. Everyone can now enjoy the treat in its original delectable unadulterated form – and without being subject to any unwanted side-effects!
As testament to the lengths one man went to protect his creation, we have stayed loyal to the original recipe and vision, and it is produced using only the finest ingredients. The chocolate bar’s logo and wrapper designs serve as a reminder of the confectionary’s intriguing history & turbulent journey, and as a playful warning to all, to be on the guard for those trying to corrupt what is good and pure.
So, the legend of NOVICH☣️C lives on – it’s a reminder of the determination, ingenuity and eccentricity of its creator, as well as that sometimes, the sweetest victories come from the most unexpected places.
